OCD OPEN DAY 2006
On Friday 30th March, 7 families attended a half-day event at the
Maudsley OCD clinic. The purpose of the day was to give families
a chance to meet with one another, learn more about OCD and share
their experiences.
The children and young people were given the opportunity to play
OCD monopoly (a modified version of the traditional game)and brainstorm
ideas for the website. Meanwhile, parents had the opportunity to
discuss some key OCD issues, including; “What consititutes
good CBT?” and “Medication for OCD”.
Both the families and the staff involved found the event worthwhile
and enjoyable. Feedback from the young people included the message
that doing something fun had made it easier to talk about their
OCD.
We hope to arrange bigger and better open days in the future with
the help of the valuable feedback we received.
